First Product Lines Introduced to DFW Center and State-of-the-Art Test Facility

NBAA – Orlando, FL – Dallas Airmotive, a BBA Aviation Global Engine Services company, recently celebrated the opening of its new 220,000 square foot engine MRO facility and its state-of-the-art engine test center at its DFW Center location in Dallas, Texas, with the induction of the company’s first engine program, the Honeywell TFE731. The new facility is located at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport, a central location providing enhanced logistical support.

“This is an exciting milestone for our company and more importantly, for our customers,” Mark Johnstone, BBA Aviation’s Global Engine Services President and Chief Operating Officer said. “The TFE731 product line recently moved into the space, along with our accessory and component repair shops. We are now beginning to take advantage of the lean design of the facility, as well as the close proximity of the engine test center, to deliver some of the faster turn times in the industry.”

DFW Center - Engine Test Center Control RoomDallas Airmotive expects to move its Rolls-Royce Tay and Spey engine programs to DFW Center toward the end of 2016 and will continue to evaluate further opportunities to move additional programs to the new facility in 2017.

“In addition to the opening of the MRO facility, the Engine Test Center is also coming on-line,” Johnstone said. “There is nothing currently comparable to our new, state-of-the-art test facility. It has the capability to test any current or proposed B&GA engine and its cutting edge design allows us to change engines in as little as 30 minutes versus the standard 2-3 hours it normally requires.”

The Test Center offers six test cells with the ability to test up to 25,000lbs of thrust. The custom built facility also features a viewing deck for our customers to monitor their engine testing in person in a comfortable environment. Currently, the test cells have been correlated for the Pratt & Whitney Canada PW200, PW300 and PW500, the Rolls-Royce M250 and RR300 and the Honeywell TFE731. The company expects to be fully operational on all authorized engine models in early 2017.

The MRO facility and Engine Test Center’s close proximity to one another will benefit customers with quicker turn times. The team is already seeing the effective results of the Engine Test Center’s capabilities after multiple engine tests.

“We are taking a very methodical approach to moving our operations,” Johnstone said. “Our customers’ needs come first, bottom line. Our team is doing everything necessary to continue to provide expert maintenance support and services.”

Dallas Airmotive will be exhibiting at NBAA’s Annual Conference in Orlando, FL Nov. 1-3 at BBA Aviation booth 2619. Visit the team at the show to learn more about their new facility, DFW Center.
